Sound Problems With Outside Programs (When GW is running)
I like to listen to music while playing my game. The Guild Wars music gets kind of old after a while :/
However, for about 3 months now I haven't been able to (clearly) listen to any music, sounds, or any audio outside of guild wars while the program is running. For example, if I am trying to listen to a song on ITunes while playing guildwars, the music on ITunes will go about 5 times faster then normal and sound extremely distorted.
I have tried many different combinations of settings on the Guild Wars Options tab, and nothing seems to solve the problem. Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Snype

Like I said, I've changed all of the settings on Guild Wars to try and fix it, including completely muting the sound on the game.
If it was my sound card this would happen while playing other games that have MUCH more intricate sounds then Guild Wars. I have no problems outside of Guild Wars

OK, it doesn't seem like anyone else has had this problem, but I figured out a solution. If I put in the switch "-nosound" on my gw shortcut, it will shut off the sound engine and my other programs will act as if guild wars isn't even running.
Thanks for the help

So now you don't have sound while playing Guild Wars?
You might aswell update your sound card drivers if they aren't allready up-to-date and then reconfigure your sound settings. Sometimes when I got both music playing in the background, and am gaming, wich use both EAX, but another preset, they start colliding with eachother and my sound fades out. So checking if you aren't running two different EAX setups might help. And toying around with the other settings wouldn't be bad either

I haven't listened to the guild wars music since factions came out. I find it distracting in PvP.

I've got the same problem I think.
Whenever I play in window mode, and listen to music on iTunes while being on Windows Live Messenger at the same time, the music in iTunes gets all laggy. But, whenever I run Windows messenger, it doesn't.
Anyone know why? :s

I also am using an Audigy2 ZS, and Ive never had that problem. Of course, I dont listen to I-tunes, I just use Media player for playing whats in my music folder(not the MY Music one). If you havent already, you can get driver updates here

I use WMP to listen to music while I play. iTunes caused choppy playback problems very similar to what the OP describes - specifically when iTunes changed from one song to the next. I suppose it has something to do with integration into the OS, which would explain why you don't see any problems using Messenger, electrolust.
